PRP for Posterior Tibial Tendon Tear
Female athlete and motorcyclist presented to New Jersey Sports
Medicine with left medial ankle pain and swelling that failed several
months of physical therapy and pneumatic boot.

Ultrasound examination revealed marked posterior tibial tendonopathy,
tenosynovitis and interstial split tear.  After failed PT and boot for
several months at another institution she underwent one US guided PRP
(Platelet Rich Plasma) injection at New Jersey Sports Medicine by Marc
Silberman on February 14, 2020.

PRIOR TO PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injection of her posterior tibial
tendon at New Jersey Sports Medicine, she underwent an MRI
examination of the left ankle on 12/18/2019 by board certified radiologist
specializing in orthopedics which reported: "Posterior tendon
demonstrates a short segment of subtle partial tearing measuring 10mm
in length at the level of the head and neck of the talus with mild to
moderate superimposed tendonosis.  There is also mild-to-moderate
tenosynovitis at the level of the partial tearing.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injection under US guidance by Dr. Marc
Silberman at New Jersey Sports Medicine was performed on February
14, 2020.  Pain free within 8 weeks, athlete questioned why nobody
from PT told her to get PRP in the first place after months of therapy,
time, and money.

POST PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injection for her posterior tibial
tendon tear, a 3 Tesla MRI examination of the left ankle was performed
on 10/16/20 at the same facility as her initial MRI with comparison by a
board certified radiologist specializing in orthopedics who reported:
"Redomonstration of mild tenosynovitis of the distal posterior tibial
tendon with no significant interstitial tearing".  Final impression reported
"no significant interstitial tearing".
